The Out Patient Appointment An out patient consultation is not a hurried event. The consultation fee is based on a personal consultation with Professor Sharpe and will include adequate time to discuss your case and your questions thoroughly. Professor Sharpe will discuss all issues relating to the procedure and will be able to show you before and after photographs where appropriate. He may wish to take medical photographs of you. These will be entirely confidential and will provide a permanent record showing the results of your treatment. It may be that after full discussion the surgical option is not the best method of achieving the desired result. Professor Sharpe will only perform a surgical procedure if he feels that it is required in your case. It is our objective to create a fully satisfied patient who has had appropriate treatment and achieves their goals with the minimum amount of surgery necessary. It may be that the particular service you require will not be a specialisation of Professor Sharpe who will then refer you to an appropriate colleague without charging a consultation fee for his own service. If you and Professor Sharpe do decide that a surgical procedure is appropriate in your case, you will be encouraged to go away and think about it before committing yourself. Most cosmetic procedures are not covered by medical insurance policies and therefore patients choose to pay a package price. This includes all the fees related to the admission including Professor Sharpe's out patient and operating fees, the Anaesthetist's fee and the hospital charge. The package price includes all out patient follow up appointments in the first year after your procedure, for example, for the removal of sutures and general follow up. Some procedures are covered by medical insurance, for example the removal of moles. The practice staff are able to give advice on how to complete the appropriate claim forms. From initial consultation through to procedure and follow up, you will be seen personally by Professor Sharpe at all times. Patients are seen in dedicated out patient consultation suites. Day case procedures and operations are all performed in the theatres at either The Yorkshire Clinic, The Elland Hospital, or The Lodge. Theatre nurses who have had special training in plastic surgery techniques assist Professor Sharpe. The operating theatres are equipped with the most modern and up-to-date equipment required for the intricate field of cosmetic surgery. Please do not hesitate to contact the practice offices if you have any queries. At no time will you be under any obligation. The final decision is yours. You will never be put under pressure to go ahead with anything you are not completely certain about.
